Real trades. Real Timing advantage.
What happened?

Scenario: A polar vortex swept across Appalachia and the Permian. Pipe flows began to drop overnight.

Action: Our monitoring picked up the decline and had volume loss estimates live by 6:00 am ET. The EIA weekly estimate did not reflect the loss for days. Our 15-day weather driven supply & demand forecasts modeled a 2.5-3.5 Bcf/d supply loss developing.

Result: Traders went long the prompt month early. By the time public data caught up, Henry Hub had tripled.

The fuel chain behind the price move

The sensor network behind the case extends beyond the power grid to the upstream and midstream gas infrastructure that fuels it: production basins, interstate pipelines, storage fields, LNG terminals - the fuel chain behind roughly 40% of US power generation. On timescales that matter for power trading, gas and power are one market. A pipeline freeze or LNG shutdown removes supply, Henry Hub moves, and power prices follow within hours. A power trader with the upstream signal sees the cause before the effect reaches power prices.

Trading edge
As gas supply tightened, gas fired generation costs rose and power prices followed within hours. Wood Mackenzie subscribers saw the upstream signal at 6:00am and went long prompt gas and positioned in power markets before either had repriced. By the time the public data caught up, Henry Hub had tripled and power prices had followed. Non-subscribers were buying at the top.
