In 2012, African Petroleum drilled the deepwater Narina-1 exploration well which encountered good quality oil in Cretaceous turbidites. Narina was the first discovery in the country. Bee Eater-1 was the second exploration well to be drilled, but it only resulted in oil shows.Narina is located offshore on Block LB-9, around 180 kilometres southeast of the capital city - Monrovia.
