Calao is a deepwater gas and condensate field and the second largest discovery ever made in Cote d'Ivoire following Baleine. Eni made the discovery in March 2024 with in-place volumes estimated up to 500 million barrels of liquids and 5 tcf of gas. The discovery lies around 120-kilometres west of Eni's giant Baleine field.The discovery is a standard turbidite system, like the discoveries and fields next door in Ghana.
