Report summary
Foresight's attributable production peaked in 2022 when domestic and seaborne demand surged. Thanks to its highly productive longwall operations, Foresight is one of the lowest-cost coal producers in the Illinois Basin. Most of the company's mines produce higher sulphur coal suited for EGUs with scrubbers or the export market. Foresight leases much of its land for its coal mining operations and, in general, the seams that the company mines or plans to mine are consistent and flat-lying with few displacements due to faulting or sandstone cut-outs.
